Quality-assured measurements in conformity assessment

More work at the pan-European level is needed particularly in:

  • Methods for evaluation of measurement uncertainty in all kinds of tests – quantitative and qualitative, in everything from manufacturing to the service industries
  • Further work is needed in establishing clear and harmonised rules for compliancy in cases where measurement uncertainty leads to appreciable risks of incorrect decisions
  • Consideration of appropriate levels of metrological performance fit for purpose in the context of conformity assessment for optimised type testing and market surveillance
